Referral Forms

Laser Sharp gives you flexibility you won’t find with other print shops.  Here are some ways our referral pad form printing is different:

Number or pages:  Most online print shops force you to choose 20, 25 or 50 page pads.  In fact, those page quantities are so common, you would almost think there was a rule or something.  

Our rule is that your referral pads have as many pages as makes sense for your business.  While many print shops will force you to order 50 or 100 pads with 25 or 50 sheets, we will print 37 pads with 63 referral forms in each if that’s what you have 37 referring practices and that makes sense to you.

Break it down: if you have 37 referring practices and want each to have 63 forms, at the other print shop you would have to order 200 pads (maybe 250, depending on their fixed order quantities) as each practice would have to get 2 pads of 50 to make up the 63.  That’s 10,000 referral forms, when you only really need 2,331.  

The examples a bit out there, but you get the point.

Colour one side, black and white on the other:  If one side of your referral pad form is black and white anyway, you may as well save a bit of money and have a choice, as colour print costs more, and the difference adds up over multiple pages.  

Referral Pad Paper Choice

Medical, dental, physiotherapists, audiologists, speech pathologists, denturists and others from across Canada and the US generally seem to go with colour print on 28lb paper for their referral pads. 

The number of pages ranges from as few as 10 to as many as 100 forms per pad, and they tend to order on average about 60 pads at a time.

Some customers start with pads that have fewer pages while they work out any bugs in the referral process, or because they are expecting to move.  A larger referral pad order follows the move, once things have settled.

Other specialists print referral pads with fewer pages, and rather than send one or two pads to a referring office, they send enough smaller pads for each of the dentists/doctors/etc practicing in the referring clinic.

Referral pad files should be appropriately proportioned for a 5.5″ x 8.5″ page.  If  colour is going to the edge of the page, it should bleed to 5.75″ x 8.75″.  

For best clarity, submit a vector file – pdf or eps are best.  Fonts converted to outlines will stay exactly as intended.

A scanned copy of your last remaining referral form is not recommended.  The print quality will be poor.
