The types of envelopes we offer are all the same size, #10s, and white. The number 10 size envelopes are 4 1/8 inches high by 9 1/2 inches long.
These envelopes hold correspondence in letter and legal sizes, folded to fit. They are also the correct size to hold brochures, flyers, tear cards and rack cards in the 3.5″ x 8.5″ or 9″ x 4″ sizes.
Plain white business envelopes. Customers generally have their company address and logo professionally printed with us.
When it is time for a mailing, they add their customers information to the printed envelope by hand, with a mailing label, or by running the printed envelopes through the office printer.
The same size and shape as standard business envelopes, window envelopes have a cellophane window through which the recipients address, written on the enclosed document, can be seen.
Window envelopes cost a bit more to purchase and print, but you save money on addressing. In other words, all you need to do is make sure your documents inside are properly formatted and folded to the correct size so they won’t slide inside the custom business envelope. That could make the address unreadable.
Again, the size is the same as standard ones. The key difference with these is that the envelope manufacturer prints a complex pattern on the inside before the envelope is folded and glued. Consequently, this printed pattern creates a privacy barrier, so the contents cannot be read through the envelope.
These are ideal for cheques and documents with delicate contents. Again, we can help with doing a variable data merge to print recipients addresses on these envelopes as well if you are doing a mass mailing.
Business envelopes are distributed in boxes of 500. Most customers choose to print full boxes.
Most commonly, the print is just the return address, though anything can be printed.
A page size of 4.125″ by 9.5″ should be created and the content placed on it as desired. A minimum of 3/16″ (.1875″) from each edge should be left white so that no content gets missed in the print process. Save the file as a pdf with 300 dpi resolution.
If you request black and white print, any colour in your artwork will be printed in shades of grey.

Before you order, it is important to check the size of your cheques, particularly if you want window envelopes. There is an envelope size that is designed just for cheques. #10 may not be the correct size for you. Cheque envelopes are typically artlined window envelopes for privacy. Sorry, no. Full bleed printing is not available for our envelopes. A small white border will be left on each edge. Your artwork should allow a margin of about 1/16″ of an inch around the outside.
Sorry, double sided printing is not recommended for custom business envelopes as the process may damage the envelope.
Yes, absolutely. This is called “variable data” or “merged” printing. We only need you to select “Variable Data” when you order and send us a spreadsheet with each address or message listed.
#10 is the most common size for custom business envelopes. If you need another size, we do offer printing of A2 and A7 sizes as part of our greeting card products.
Also, while not listed on our website, we also routinely print #8 size envelopes for churches to use for their offerings. Please request a quote for these.
