DIY Coroplast Sign Tips

Keep these important factors in mind when designing your sign:

  1. Contrast improves visibility. When selecting your colours, light coloured lettering on a dark background or the opposite is ideal.  In particular, black lettering on a white background provides the ideal contrast.
  2. Size matters.  This is true of the overall size of the sign as well as for the text and elements on the coroplast sign.  Sign visibility involves the observer first noticing that there is a sign present.  A large or well placed sign that stands out from its surroundings will help with that.  Secondly, the observer will read the sign.  As a general rule, you can multiply the size of the lettering in inches by 10 to calculate the maximum viewable distance in feet.  In other words, letters 3 inches tall are best viewed from 30 feet or less and 5 inch letters will be best viewed from 50 feet or less.
  3. Select fonts carefully.  Some letter styles are not easy to read, especially from a passing vehicle.  Take notice of the signage around you and choose ones that are easy to read.  In addition, some fonts may not work for your sign size.  For example, you may want text that is 3 inches tall, but at that size it is too large for your sign background.  In that case, choose a condensed font that will fit.
  4. Quality images.  When you are adding a logo or picture to your DIY coroplast sign artwork, make sure that the image does not become pixelated from resizing it.  Start with high resolution or vector images to get the best quality.
Product is not available?

When selecting your DIY Coroplast Sign options, you may get a warning that says the product is not available.  That simply means that the options you are selecting do not work well together.  For example, the wire H stand is great for a 12″ x 24″ lawn sign, but it will not support a sign that is 48″ x 48″.   In that case, if you select a 48″ x 48″ sign with a wire H stand, you will see the error message.  If you need something that is not on the page, please contact us.
